Asynchronous JavaScript with XML(Ajax) is emerging as a hot technology. So how do you design and build a Java EE application that leverages Ajax? The Java BluePrints is helping to determine the programming model for Ajax and Java EE.
The Java Pet Store 2.0 Reference Application Released
The Java BluePrints program released an early access Java Pet Store 2.0 Reference Application. This application is designed to illustrate how the Java EE 5 Platform can be used to design and develop an Ajax-enabled Web 2.0 application. The application comes with full source-code available under a BSD-style license, so you can experiment with it and use it in your own applications.

Java BluePrints Ajax-enabled JSF component libraries
We have two JavaServer Faces component libraries. One set has some components based on JSF 1.2 and can be used on a Java EE 5 application server like GlassFish. The other set has some components based on JSF 1.1 and can run on J2EE 1.4 compatible application servers, like the Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.2. Try them out in your own web applications. Add a progress bar into your web application. Or build a Google maps mash-up. Or try out the Ajax FileUpload which is based on the DOJO toolkit.

The Java Pet Store 2.0 is NetBeans-ready!
All you need to do is open the Petstore as a project in NetBeans then build and deploy it. Or if you think of a feature you would like to add to the Pet Store code, use NetBeans Java EE 5 features and make a better Java Pet Store.

Java BluePrints Solutions Catalog for Java EE 5
This catalog covers key issues and solutions for common problems when designing and building an Ajax application on the Java EE platform. For each problem topic it provides various strategies, patterns, and design guidelines for the solution. The catalog includes design documents, many small applications, several JSF and Ajax components, as well as source code. An early access version of Ajax solutions including two new Ajax JSF components is now available for download. This set of components work with the Glassfish Java EE 5 application server.

This FAQ provides anwsers to many common Ajax questions.

Java BluePrints Solutions Catalog for J2EE 1.4
Contains a set of documents, code, and applications which cover some problems and solutions for using Ajax in a J2EE 1.4 application. You can download it (code and solution documents) and run it on a J2EE 1.4 application server, or you can view the solutions document online to see if you are interested in downloading.

Java BluePrints Solutions Catalog for J2EE 1.4 in NetBeans
You might already have the solutions catalog which is embedded as a feature in NetBeans. You can use the catalog and open up the Ajax applications as NetBeans projects. You can either download NetBeans and try out the Ajax BluePrints, or if you already have NetBeans installed then just go to the help menu and choose the "BluePrints Solutions Catalog".
