Chapter 6, Utilities | Chapter 16, Choosers

Book cover The JDC is pleased to present two chapters from Graphic Java 2, Volume 2, Swing by David M Geary.

About the Book

Graphic Java 2, Volume 2, Swing offers the most comprehensive guide to the Java Foundation Classes (JFC) available. Two volumes cover all aspects of the JFC, providing developers of Java technology with the skills needed to build professional, cross platform applications that take full advantage of the Java Foundation Classes. Graphic Java 2, Vol. 2, Swing is the comprehensive reference experienced programmers turn to when they want to take full advantage of the power of Swing.

About the Chapters

Chapter 6 "Utilities" Swing includes a number of utilities that are discussed in this chapter. Some of the utilities, such as timers and the static methods provided by the SwingUtilities class, are used internally by Swing, whereas others, such as progress monitors and progress monitor streams, are not. All of the utilities discussed in this chapter are available for use by developers using Swing.

Chapter 16 "Choosers" This chapter discusses two Swing chooser components--JFileChooser and JColorChooser--that are used to select files and colors, respectively.
