About the Chapters

Chapter 3, "The Jini Model," introduces the basic concepts in Jini technology. Understanding these concepts and how they connect with each other will help you understand how all the big pieces of the Jini design fit together.

Chapter 10, "Using the ServiceDiscover Manager," discusses some new APIs introduced with Jini network technology version 1.1. If you program with Jini network technology version 1.0, pay special attention to this chapter; the ServiceDiscoveryManager provides a useful high-level interface to working with lookup services.
