Chapter 2: An Abstract Model For Deployment | Chapter 11, Runtime Client Services
About the BookJava Deployment with JNLP and WebStart provides a complete picture of the deployment options currently available for the Java platform. The book includes both practical and theoretical advice and extensive source code, and explores a variety of platforms and the intrinsic complexity of deployment issues. Java Deployment with JNLP and WebStart also provides a thorough look at the recently introduced JNLP and WebStart technologies. About the ChaptersChapter 2, "An Abstract Model For Deployment," defines an abstract model for Java software deployment. Given the inherent differences in Java clients, specific deployment practices can vary widely. However, the abstract deployment model provided here offers a generalized approach that extends to clients ranging from handhelds to back-end servers and from smart cards to home PCs. Chapter 11, "Runtime Client Services," examines the runtime services offered by a JNLP Client to its launched applications. This chapter discusses the JNLP class structure and the best implementation practices.
