The following J2EE products and technologies were recently released:

Java Adventure Builder Reference Application v1.0
Java ABR shows how to design interoperable and portable web services on the J2EE 1.4 platform, and also presents recommendations for the effective use of J2EE technologies such as JAX-RPC, JAXP, Servlet 2.4, JSP 2.0, JSTL, and EJB.

JSR-130 OSS IP Billing API Specification 1.1 Maintenance Release
Allows telecom network management applications to be developed and integrated with Java technology-enabled IP Billing systems.

JSR-921 Implementing Enterprise Web Services 1.1 Maintenance Release
This is a Maintenance Revision of the Implementing Enterprise Web Services 1.1 Specification. For information about version 1.0, please see the JSR 109 web page.

JSR-201 Extending the Java Programming Language with Enumerations, Autoboxing, Enhanced for loops and Static Import Public Review Draft
The title says it all.

J2EE 1.4 Platform Specification Final Release
Download the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition 1.4 SDK Developer Release, the J2EE 1.4 Application Server Developer Release, and the J2EE 1.4 Samples Developer Release.

James Gosling Elected to National Academy of Engineering
"For the conception and development of the architecture for the Java programming language and for contributions to window systems," James Gosling has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering (NAE).

Java Technology is Everywhere, Surpasses 1.5 Billion Devices Worldwide
Sun announced that 1.5 billion devices around the world are powered by Java technology: 250 million mobile phones, 650 million desktops, 500 million SIM and Smart Cards, and a hundred million other locations. Java technology is the essential ingredient for a better digital and connected experience.

Sun Microsystems Products Take Top Honors in Developer.com Product of the Year Awards
Sun products and technologies that took top honors from among hundreds of nominations were Sun Java Studio, the NetBeans platform, the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE), J2ME Wireless Toolkit 2.1, and Java Card technology.
