The following J2EE products and technologies were made available through the Early Access Release Program this month:
Sun Java Studio Creator Early Access
Sun Java Studio Creator offers a complete development and deployment experience for web applications, including JavaServer Faces technology for easy UI development and Java coding, plus the Sun Java System Application Server 8, Platform Edition, for easy deployment.
Product and Technology Releases
The following J2EE products and technologies were recently released:
Java Application Verification Kit (AVK) for the Enterprise 1.4 FCS is Freely Available Now
The latest version of the AVK is freely available to download. It has a new installation wizard and portability features for testing web services.
The J2EE 1.4 SDK
The J2EE 1.4 SDK contains the Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8 FCS, the J2SE 1.4.2 SDK, J2EE 1.4 platform API documentation, and a slew of samples to help developers learn about the J2EE platform and technologies and prototype J2EE applications.
JSR-095 J2EE Activity Service for Extended Transactions 1.0 Proposed Final Draft
The Activity Service supports flexible ways of composing an application using transactions, and can enable the application to possess some or all ACID properties.
JSR-128 JESI - JSP Tag Library for Edge Side Includes 1.0 Public Review Draft
The JESI tag library facilitates the use of Edge Side Include (ESI) in markup language within a JSP application. JESI tags simplify the declaration of cacheable dynamic fragments, content invalidation, and personalization.
JSR-212 Server API for Mobile Services: Messaging 1.0 Public Review Draft
Defines a protocol-agnostic messaging API for composing, sending, and receiving short messages and multimedia messages. It provides a client API to Short Message Service (SMS) and Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) servers.
JSR-142 OSS Inventory API 0.9 Proposed Final Draft
Defines J2EE technology-based interfaces between inventory repositories and other OSS components, and addresses the need to provide standardization conventions, allowing interoperability of OSS components and reducing the cost of their integration in an end-to-end OSS solution.
JSR-170 Content Repository for Java Technology API 1.0 Public Review Draft
Specifies a standard API to access content repositories in Java 2 software, independently of implementation.
