Early Access
The following J2EE products and technologies were
made available through the Early Access Release Program this
month
JavaMail API
1.3.2 Early Access
This release contains over 25 bug fixes and several new features,
including: SSL/TLS support for all protocols, STARTTLS support for
the IMAP and SMTP protocols, SASL support for the IMAP protocol
and access to detailed SMTP error codes.
JSR 223:
Scripting Pages in Java Web Applications
Reference Implementation 1.0a Early Access
Describes mechanisms allowing scripting language programs to
access information developed in the Java Platform, and allowing
scripting language pages to be used in Java server-side applications.
Product and Technology Releases
The following J2EE products and technologies were
recently released:
Java
Web Services Developer Pack (Java WSDP) 1.4 Final Release
Java WSDP is a free, integrated toolkit you can use to build,
test, and deploy XML applications, web services, and web
applications, with the latest web service technologies and
standards implementations.
JSR 201:
Extending the Java Programming Language with Enumerations, Autoboxing,
Enhanced for loops, and Static Import
Specification 1.0 Proposed
Proposes four new Java programming language features:
enumerations, autoboxing, enhanced for loops, and static import.
JSR 014:
Add Generic Types to the Java Programming Language
Specification 1.0 Proposed Final Draft
Extending the Java programming language with generic types
(aka parameterized types).
JDBC Rowset
1.0.1 JWSDP 1.4 Co-Bundle
This Co-Bundle builds around the final specification of JSR 114,
providing the reference implementation, specification, and a
step-by-step tutorial to educate developers on the best usage
of JDBC RowSets.
JSR
094: Java Rule Engine API 1.0 Final Release
Defines a Java runtime API for rule engines.
JSR
073: Data Mining API Specification 1.0 Final Release
Addresses the need for a data mining API aligned with existing,
evolving data mining standards efforts.
NetBeans IDE 4.0
Beta 1 Now Available
The NetBeans IDE provides a pure Java technology development
environment for Windows, Linux, the Solaris Operating System,
and Mac OS X. Download
the Beta today!
J2EE 1.4 SDK
Update 1 Now Available
Now available with several bug fix improvements. The J2EE SDK
contains the Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition
8, featuring support for JavaServer Faces technology, and is free
for both development and deployment.
J2EE 1.4
Application Verification Kit (AVK)
AVK for the Enterprise tests for portability and the correct use
of J2EE APIs across J2EE technology-compatible application
servers. This free download saves developers time and effort by
maximizing code reuse and minimizing code rewrites for different
application servers.
NetBeans-Sun Java
System Application Server 8 cobundle
A bundle of the NetBeans 3.6 IDE and the Sun Java System
Application Server Platform Edition 8 is now available.
