The Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition
(J2EE) IDE Toolkit Software 2.1
integrates Forte for Java, Community
Edition (CE) 3.0 and the J2EE 1.3 Application Deployment Tool.
The goal of the Toolkit is to provide a more user-friendly application
development environment for the J2EE SDK so as to promote wider adoption
of the J2EE platform. To achieve this goal, the Toolkit integrates the packaging
and deployment functionality of the J2EE SDK into the Forte CE product
using the Open API model provided by
NetBeans/Forte.
This release supports the
Solaris/SPARC,
Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Windows 2000, and Red Hat Linux platforms.
This release supports the J2EE 1.3 SDK. It has the following features that
were new at Toolkit Release 2.0:
- You can start the Toolkit by using the Forte startup script,
runide.
- You can use the Toolkit to create source code templates for J2EE
components.
- You can use the Toolkit to debug Enterprise
JavaBeans components and servlets.
- An installation wizard simplifies the process of installing the Toolkit. A
script for uninstalling the Toolkit is also provided.
