Localized Download Bundles for Solaris Operating Environment

All J2SDK and JRE downloads for the Solaris Operating Environment contain support for international locales. Unlike previous releases, US-English-only versions of the J2SDK and JRE are not provided.

Localization support for Solaris platforms includes three packages of Japanese man pages for eucJP, PCK, and UTF-8 encodings: SUNWjej3m, SUNWjpj3m, and SUNWjuj3m respectively. Localization support found in packages SUNWlj3dv and SUNWlj3rt in previous releases is now contained in the "base" packages SUNWj3dev and SUNWj3rt.

Localized Download Bundles for Microsoft Windows

The J2SDK download for Microsoft Windows platforms includes support for international locales. Two versions of the JRE for Microsoft Windows are provided, one containing support for international locales and a smaller version which supports US-English only.

Localized Download Bundles Linux

All JRE and J2SDK downloads for Linux are localized. English-only downloads are not available.

Localized Documentation

The download web pages, online release notes, and license files are localized into Japanese.

The J2SE 1.3.1 documentation set is available only in English. A Japanese translation of the J2SE 1.3.0 documentation is available for browsing or download. The Japanese 1.3.0 documentation may be used in conjunction with J2SE 1.3.1, though the 1.3.0 documentation will not contain some clarifications and additional information found in the English J2SE 1.3.1 documentation.
