The Java EE SDK team hosted a contest to encourage developers to download the Java EE SDK and describe their experiences. To qualify for the prize, the developers had to download the Java EE 5 SDK, earlier J2EE 1.4 SDKs, or any SDK downloaded from the Java EE web site, then complete a survey, and send feedback. The contest ran from November 1-November 30, 2006, and all feedback was collected. The person with the best feedback, which was judged by the Java EE SDK team, won an iPod Nano.

The new Enterprise JavaBeans 3.0 spec is brilliant, and so much easier than earlier Java EE specs. The GlassFish/Sun Java System Application Server 9.01 release has been a true pleasure to work with. We are deploying manufacturing applications on it that tie Oracle applications data to PLC data running on the machine, with shop floor clients written in Swing and reporting written using Sun Java Studio Creator 2 JavaServer Faces applications. Our development time has sped up tremendously.
