Adding JavaFX Support to Your NetBeans IDE

The fastest way to get started with JavaFX is to download and install the most recent product release of NetBeans IDE for JavaFX, using the instructions in the document Installing NetBeans IDE for JavaFX.

If you have already installed the NetBeans IDE, you can add JavaFX support by installing the JavaFX Plugin for NetBeans.

Note: The JavaFX 1.2 Plugin for NetBeans requires NetBeans IDE 6.5.1 or 6.7.1. Check the Software and Systems Requirements page to ensure that you meet all system requirements and that your platform is supported.

1. Start your existing installation of the NetBeans IDE.
   
   
2. From the main menu, choose Tools > Plugins.
   
   
3. In the Plugins window, click the Settings tab and check the Active checkboxes for NetBeans Update Center and all the update centers listed.

   The other update centers are checked for any updated plugins on which the JavaFX 1.2 Plugin might depend.
   
   
4. Select the Available Plugins tab and click Reload Catalog to obtain the latest list of available plugins.
   
   
5. In the list of available plugins, locate all the plugins in the JavaFX category.
   
   You can type javafx in the Search text field to help locate these plugins.

6. Check the Install checkboxes for the JavaFX plugins found, if not yet checked, and click Install.
   
   The NetBeans Installer dialog appears.
   
   
7. In the NetBeans IDE Installer dialog, click Next to continue with the installation.
   
   
8. Read and accept the terms in all of the license agreements displayed and click Install.
   
   The installer proceeds with the validation of the plugins.
   
   
9. After the installation has been completed successfully, click Finish to restart the IDE.
