Download the NetBeans IDE 6.1 with JavaFX to get started with JavaFX quickly. It provides all the tools you need to build a JavaFX application, as well as samples that help you along. You should also ensure that you have version 6 of the Java Development Kit (JDK).

If you already have NetBeans IDE 6.1 installed, you can install JavaFX plugin by following these instructions.
Windows
- Intel® Pentium® 4, Intel Centrino®, Intel Xeon®, or Intel Core™ Duo (or compatible) processor
- Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista™ Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise (certified for 32-bit editions)
- 512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)
- 900 MB of available hard-disk space minimum (1.1 GB recommended)
- Java Runtime: Java 6 update 7
Macintosh
- Multicore Intel processor
- Mac OS X 10.5.2+ (Leopard)
- 512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)
- 800 MB of available hard-disk space minimum (1 GB recommended)
