Wowwee Robotics is using the JavaOne conference to unveil
Robosapien, a media-savvy robot that can hear, see, and even
speak. Also known as RS Media, the robot is equipped with a color
LCD screen, hand-mounted tweeters, a back-mounted woofer, a USB
connector, and MP3 and MPEG4 playback. It can easily display and
store data from your PC.
This unique robot is making an impressive debut here at the
Conference. Currently available only to Conference attendees,
Robosapien is a uniquely enhanced version over what will be available
to the public worldwide this fall. Attendees are getting a great deal
-- only $269 here. The public will pay $329.
RS Media provides you with a complete multimedia experience and also
includes the RS Media Editing Suite, which enables you to create and
edit personalities, body movements, and response. The robot is
completely customizable. RS Media is the first Wowwee robot to
combine the revolutionary technology used in Robosapien V2 with
advanced multimedia features that further enhance both direct and
autonomous interaction with the owner and the environment.
Featuring an ARM9 processor, USB connectivity, built-in sound system,
LCD screen, on-board Flash memory that is expandable by way of an SD
card slot, infrared sensors, sound sensors, CMOS sensor, and a complete
humanoid robot, RS Media is the ultimate and most affordable
development platform for embedded robotics.
RS Media is reprogrammable. In addition to extremely capable
hardware, Wowwee has provided complete Java technology APIs so that
casual users using the PC software can work with the robot
and advanced users can completely reprogram it. In addition to being
a fun robot and media center, RS Media rivals professional
development platforms for the range and capabilities of all the
peripherals built in. And best of all, you can access every aspect of
RS Media through the Java programming language.
To purchase the RS Media/Robosapien, visit the kiosk in the Moscone South
Lobby from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Thursday.
