- THE SUBMISSION: The purpose of this contest is to create a

the robot's sensors and systems to enable the robot to escape the
"The Room of Doom," which is a 5' x 5' hexagonal shaped
area with a red and white color scheme. The room's exit has a large
red area which is recognizable with the robot's vision sensors. The
programmed robots will be placed in the center of the room in a
random orientation, and the robot will have a maximum of five (5)
minutes to escape the room before it automatically powers down.
Further instructions about how to create your entry are located at
the Contest booth.
If you have pre-registered, in accordance with Rule 3 above, you may
enter the contest by having an operator load your Java-powered
program into the WowWee RS media robot provided at the Contest booth
and execute the program inside the contest area during your
designated Time Slot ("Entry"). You must present your
Entry in person at the event within your designated Time Slot during
the Contest Period.
All Entries must be in English. Registration or Entries that are in any
other language will not be considered. Entries that are lewd,

a robot to enter contest.
- JUDGING: All Entries will be judged by a panel of experts. Robots have
a maximum of five (5) minutes to escape before they automatically
power down. The goal of the contest is to exit the room as fast as
possible. Time will be measured from the time the robot is placed at
the center of the room to the time it exits the area. The two
Entries with the fastest (lowest total) time will be declared the
winners. In the event of a tie, a Prize will be awarded to each tied
Entry. In the event that no entries are
received, no prize will be awarded. Decisions of judges are final
and binding. Winners will be noted at the Contest booth in the Java
Playground on the exhibit floor of JavaOne.
- PRIZES AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE: The two Entries with the
fastest escape times will be awarded a 2007 JavaOne t-shirt signed
