JDK 6 Update 17 With JavaFX 1.2.1 SDK

For your convenience, JDK 6 Update 17 (the Java development platform) is bundled with the JavaFX 1.2.1 SDK, which provides the functionality to develop rich Internet applications.

System Requirements

JDK 6 Update 17 With JavaFX 1.2.1 SDK runs on Windows only. The system requirements are listed in the following table.

Processors
Intel Pentium 4, Intel Centrino, Intel Xeon, or Intel Core Duo (or compatible) 1.8 GHz minimum
Operating Systems
Windows XP with Service Pack 3 or Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise (certified for 32-bit editions)
Memory
512 MB of RAM (2 GB recommended)
Disk Space
256 MB of free disk space
Web Browsers
Internet Explorer 6 minimum, FireFox 3.0 minimum
Java SE Development Kit (JDK)
JDK 6 Update 17
Apple QuickTime Player
7.5.5 minimum is required to run the JavaFX Mobile Emulator. System restart is required after QuickTime installation.
DirectShow Filters
MP3 and AMR splitters and decoders are needed (for example, K-Lite Codec Pack) for the JavaFX Mobile Emulator.
 
Known Issues

Following are the known issues that occur during the installation of the JDK and JavaFX SDK cobundle.

  • Issue 6829112: An unexpected file folder appears in the JavaFX installer.

    Description: In the JavaFX installer, when you select Modify, Repair, or Remove, an unexpected file folder appears. The installation will not continue until you close the file folder.

    Workaround: Prior to installing the cobundle, uninstall JDK 6 Update 17 and JavaFX 1.2.1 SDK.

  • Issue 6829015: An error occurs when you cancel the installation.

    Description: During the installation, if you click Cancel in the Custom Setup window, an error occurs.

    Workaround: None.

  • Issue 6828488: The JDK and JavaFX installers open at the same time.

    Description: If JDK 6 Update 17 is already installed on your system and you reinstall the JDK using the new cobundle, the installer removes the old JDK and launches the JDK and JavaFX installers at the same time.

    Workaround: Prior to installing the cobundle, uninstall JDK 6 Update 17 and JavaFX 1.2.1 SDK.
