When the Java SE Development Kit (JDK) is installed, the Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) is installed, as well. The JRE can also be installed separately. Installation instructions and system requirements are available for the following platforms.
It is also possible to manually install a JRE plugin for a web browser, without making the JRE generally availalble. Instructions for that process are available here:
