When you license the Java Platform, Standard Edition, you can write applications to its specifications. This means you and your customers can be assured that these applications are portable across the products available today that are compatible with Java SE technology. Only Java SE licensees can claim compatibility with Java SE specifications and can ship Java SE-branded products.
