Bay Equities Inc. is a leader in 3D user interface design and uses the Java3D API to create real-time customizable environments. Bay Equities has recognized a need for a better HCI (Human Computer Interface) and has focused their development efforts on RealDesk. RealDesk provides an advanced 3D interface that does not merely transform the traditional WIMP (Window, Icon, Menu, Pointing device) environment into a 3D environment, but bases the 3D environment on a metaphor representing the real-world. Java3D provides Bay Equities with the functionality and flexibility needed to build and render the RealDesk scenes. The use of Java and Java3D has allowed Bay Equities to rapidly design, prototype, and build our products. Each user is provided with a 3D scene that they can configure to look like their home or office. The objects in the scene can be linked to files and programs as well as home automation devices.
