Java 3D API Customer Success Stories
Litton TASC
TASC is using Sun's Java 3D API technology in TASCVISION (VISION stands for Virtual Information Space Intelligence and Operations Network), a collaborative, distributed information visualization and management framework used in military command and control organizations. The tool, which runs on workstations and PCs that utilize UNIX® operating systems, is also useful for customers confronted with information overload or information integration problems occurring in industrial, education and entertainment areas.
"Once we got a look at the Java 3D API spec we felt that the Java 3D scene graph approach, virtual reality hooks and advanced features - like geometry compression, sound and scene graph compilation - meshed perfectly with what we are trying to accomplish with TASCVISION. When it became clear that the Java platform would provide much more flexibility to design the architecture while simultaneously providing more capability and enabling higher productivity, we decided to use the Java Media APIs, including the Java 3D API, for all rendering. We wanted to preserve the architecture neutrality."
