The Java Media Framework API (JMF) is
an application programming interface for incorporating
audio, video and other time-based media into Java applications and applets.
The 1.0 API focuses on the playback of streaming and stored
media, i.e. supports the synchronization, control, processing and
presentation of such media.
JMF is an optional package which extends the multimedia capabilities
on the Java platform.
The reference implementations of JMF 1.0 and 1.1, as well as the forthcoming
Java TV API,
use the JMF 1.0 API. This API was developed by Sun Microsystems, Inc.,
Silicon Graphics Inc., and Intel Corporation.
The reference implementations of JMF 1.0 and 1.1 are no longer
available, as they have been superceded by
JMF 2.1. The JMF 1.0 API can be viewed online, or downloaded,
by accessing the links to the right.
