System RequirementsJava 2 SDK, Standard Edition, v. 1.4.2 is supported on Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition and Datacenter Edition running on Intel Itanium 2 processors. You should have 110 megabytes of free disk space before attempting to install the Java 2 SDK software. For the full list of systems supported by 1.4.2, see System Configurations.
Installation InstructionsThis procedure installs the Java 2 SDK, but not the Java Plug-in, Java Web Start or public Java 2 Runtime Environment (which are not yet available for 64-bit Windows).The Java 2 SDK for Windows 64-bit comes bundled as an executable file j2sdk-1_4_2_<version>-windows-ia64.exe. To install this version, use this file and otherwise follow the 32-bit Windows installation. The Beta installer has a bug where it fails to remove temporary .pack files when it is done. The files are located in two lib directories; assuming the SDK was installed into C:\j2sdk1.4.2, you could manually remove them from: C:\j2sdk1.4.2\lib\*.pack C:\j2sdk1.4.2\jre\lib\*.pack
