Sun Java Toolkit 1.0 for CDC

Welcome to the first public release of the Sun Java Toolkit 1.0 for Connected Device Configuration (CDC). The Sun Java Toolkit for CDC (CDC Toolkit) is a set of tools for creating applications on the desktop for the Java ME CDC application platform. CDC is designed for both mobile and consumer devices that have faster CPUs and more memory than typical wireless devices. The tools encompass an emulation environment that implements the standard APIs below, and a simple interface to develop and run applications in the emulation environment.

Developers can take advantage of their knowledge and familiarity of Java SE, Swing, and Java 2D and bring their desktop applications to mobile and embedded devices. For more information on CDC and the benefits, see our CDC technology page.

The Sun Java Toolkit for CDC implements impressive capabilities which are exposed through standard APIs. The APIs are defined through the Java Community Process (JCP):

Installing the Sun Java Toolkit for CDC on Windows

First ensure you have an appropriate J2SE environment installed, as described previously.

Run the installer, cdc_toolkit-1_0-win.exe. Follow the instructions provided by the installer.
