During the EOL transition period, customers should begin migrating to products
within the Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) family.
These include:
Connected Device Configuration (CDC) is a standards-based framework for building and delivering
mobile applications for a variety of personal mobile devices. CDC is designed for product scenarios
with constrained resources, typically 2 MB of RAM and 2.5 MB of ROM for the Java application environment.
CDC is also based on compatibility with standard J2SE APIs.
The CDC family includes
Foundation Profile,
Personal Basis Profile
and
Personal Profile.
Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) is the smallest general-purpose Java environment
CLDC is designed for product scenarios with very limited resources, typically 128 KB to 512 KB of RAM.
The CLDC family includes the
Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) which adds GUI capabilities to CLDC-based devices.
