This page provides a series of web pages containing applets solely for the purpose of demonstrating and evaluating Java Plug-in. Hence, the HTML of each page explicitly specifies the use of the JavaPlug-in rather than the default Java virtual machine contained in your browser. Java Plug-in requires a one-time download and installation that takes a total of 3-10 minutes, depending on your network and system configuation. In all subsequent instances, the Java Plug-in software loads automatically and transparently to render the Java applet. All of these applets leverage JDK 1.3 features, and are thus dependent on features in JDK 1.3. For more information, see Writing Compatible Programs. The applets include those in the demo directory of the Java Development Kit (JDK), plus a few extras. Each applet is viewed by downloading the respective web page (see the links below) into your Web browser. NOTE: The demo applets shown here are designed to work with Microsoft Internet Explorer browser only Programmers: Please feel free to reuse source code from our applets, except in programs where a bug could be life-threatening.
