Converter Features

Notes:

  • Conversion will not take place for an HTML file with Japanese EUC or PCK/SJIS encoding in the following situtation: The HTML Converter is running on a Solaris 7 or 8 machine localized for ja_JP.UTF-8.
  • Furthermore, broken Japanese strings will result unless the locale of the Solaris machine running the converter and the HTML file are the same.

Template-based conversion Allows web page authors to explicitly target the browsers and platforms used in their environment when modifying their pages using the Java Plug-in software HTML Converter. Web page authors can also create their own templates.
Multiple templates provided Four different templates are provided, including a default template (default.tpl) and three supplementary templates. These supplementary templates allow Web page authors to more explicitly target the browsers and platforms used in their environment when modifying their pages using the Java Plug-in HTML Converter.
Single file or entire directory Convert a single HTML file or an entire directory of HTML files.
Backup file preservation The Java Plug-in software HTML Converter saves your original HTML files automatically. If you ever need to modify your HTML files again, simply use the backup files that the Java Plug-in software HTML Converter creates for you.
Log file generation You'll know exactly what the Java Plug-in software HTML Converter did by looking at the conversion log file. All applets and conversions are recorded.
Source file download specification You can specify the location (URL) from which the Java Plug-in software binaries are downloaded. The binary files may reside on an external Internet site (such as java.sun.com) or on a corporate intranet web server.
Command line interface option Operate the Java Plug-in software HTML Converter from a command line.
More user-friendly interface The Java Plug-in Software 1.3 HTML Converter has been completely converted to take advantage of Swing.
Release targetting Preferred Java Plug-in releases can be targetted through advanced options in the HTML Converter's graphical user interface.
