Java Web Services Developer Pack 1.5 Download

The Java Web Services Developer Pack (Java WSDP) is a free integrated toolkit that allows Java developers to build and test XML applications, Web services, and Web applications with the latest Web services technologies and standards implementations.

For fully supported, enterprise-class products incorporating Java Web Services technologies, we recommend Sun Java Studio Enterprise and Sun Java System Application Server.

The Java Web Services Developer Pack v1.5 includes the following:

  • XML and Web Services Security v1.0 EA3
  • XML Digital Signatures 1.0 EA
  • Java Architecture for XML Binding (JAXB) v1.0.3 FCS
  • Java API for XML Processing (JAXP) v1.2.6 FCS
  • Java API for XML Registries (JAXR) v1.0.6 FCS
  • Java API for XML-based RPC (JAX-RPC) v1.1.2 FCS
  • SOAP with Attachments API for Java (SAAJ) v1.2.1 FCS
  • JavaServer Pages Standard Tag Library (JSTL) v1.1 FCS
  • Java WSDP Registry Server v1.0_06 EA
  • Ant Build Tool 1.5.4 FCS
  • WS-I Attachments Sample Application 1.0 EA

Java WSDP 1.5 has been tested on the following Web containers on J2SE SDK version 1.4.2_04:

  • Sun Java System Application Server 8.0.0_01
  • Sun Java System Web Server 6.1 SP2
  • Tomcat 5.0 for Java WSDP 1.4 (based upon Tomcat 5.0.19)

Java WSDP 1.5 has been tested on the following platforms:

  • Solaris 9 Operating System (SPARC and x86)
  • Windows Server 2003
  • Windows XP Professional Edition
  • Red Hat Linux 9.0
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 3.0

Also, the Java WSDP 1.5 can be installed on J2SE 1.5 beta2 but only minimal testing has been done. See "Known Problems" for more information.

WS-I Test Tools
The WS-I testing tools are designed to help developers determine whether their Web services are conformant with Profile Guidelines. These tools can be configured for use with the Java WSDP as described in at java.net. The tools are available from WS-I.

The Ant documentation is now provided as a separate download in order to reduce the Java Web Services Developer Pack download size.

Community
The main developer community is the jwsdp community at Java.Net. Java.Net hosts a number of projects and communities related to the Java WSDP. Sites include the JWSDP community (mailing list), the JAX-RPC project (mailing list), and the JAXB project (mailing list). There are Java Technology Forums for the following technologies: JSP and JSTL, Java Servlet Technology, JavaServer Faces Technology. There are also forums for Java Technology and XML and Java Technologies for Web Services, but the Java.Net mailing lists are prefered.
